Well a new project has begun!

This one is in Mont albert in Melbourne for a really nice couple called Peter and Susie.

The main challenge on this site was its rather extreeme slope.

The design solution with this was to create some multi level decking with seperated by some interesting steps and garden beds. see design below

The height of the main deck was over 1.5m off the ground so we decided to use a product called uni pier whcih is an adjustable galvanised post that bolts down on to a footing. I was really impressed by the quality and ease of intstallation of this product and will definatly be using them again.
So the pictures below show the footings that the posts bolt on to

The next step was the frame for the main deck.

Now the frame was constructed.

Next step was the decking boards

Now work starts on the garden beds between the two decks.
Here we used a product called versilock. Which is a mortar less concrete block, with steel reinfocement through out it, that once stacked is core filled to make it a solid concrete structure.

After the garden beds have been corefilled, the next step was to start the rendering.

Now The timber frame for the steps and decking goes in.

The render is applied to the garden beds

Now The decking boards! Its taking shape!!!

And the lights and the plants. I love this part the most.

Another shot of the lower level with the upper deck and rendered wall in view.

Looking down from the upper deck. We used 90mm Spotted gum, It has so much character.

A finished shot of the upper deck.

This was a really exiting job, I love to watch my designs come to life and transform a really unusable space in to something practical but also somewhere you really want to spend your time.
It helps having really great clients! Thanks Peter and Susie.
