This job was one of my favorites we did a few years ago. Its one of those projects where all the ingredents were there for an amazing job: great client and awesome design.

So as you can see it was a pretty average back yard in terms of landscaping. but it was actually quite a large space with rather high boundry walls and a large oak tree to the side.

The first step was excavating the site and removing 12 cubic meters of soil.

Next step was marking out the whole job and getting a good idea how its going to work on the ground. This is the stage where if a major change is going to take place its best to be worked out here. Fortunately everything seemed to work pretty well.

Now all the set out was worked out the footings for all the garden beds and retain walls were dug out and the concrete poured.

Now the block work goes down. Here we used a great system called formblock. If you look close there are no mortar joints, this is because after laying the bottom course (with mortar) you simply stack the rest of the blocks on top of each other to the desired height and then core fill the blocks with a concrete slurry.

Now all the block work was finished the render base coat was applied and the decking was started

Here we have most of the decking boards down, the base coat on the walls finished and the texture coat on the boundary walls done. I think one of the really interesting aspects of this project was all the differing levels providing lots interest through out the garden

This is the rendered blueboard wall that divides the two main areas of the garden getting built

The rendering is done and its really just the finishing touches to go

And now its done!!
